Cool coverage thanks for the link DJ.  Congrats to Dave, Ekolu and all the paddlers.  Any word on the wahine winners yet?

They think Andrea Moeller won and Jenny Kalmbach second but still waiting confirmation.

Way to go Andrea and Jenny!  I know they both put in major miles this year and trained hard for this.  They must be feeling an immense satisfaction that their hard work has paid off.

It looks like Dave Kalama first.. Ekolu Kalama second.. Scott ? third.. Michi (Naish) fourth and Connor coming in fifth.. then Livio.

Dave Kalama does look like he was on his 17' Naish Glide.

DJ

When you say Scott I am thinking Scott Gamble from Oahu? I hoping you reply Gamble.

I was up on Molokai for the race and Dave had a custom shaped Naish 17 with a much thinner nose !!

Ali Cat (Alison from Australia) posted a few times on this forum.  She's a regular over on Seabreeze, which is where I found this.

just heard from alison.. she was approximatley less than 1 km from the finish when her support boat took off to shore without her. She was only 100 metres behind the other girls when this happened...She got a cramp and didn't have any fluids as the boat took off... she was stranded for about an hour before another boat got to her..she had be blown to far across the bay to get in and couldnt finish, The support boat driver is now black listed for future races.

I think she has done an excellent job- she was so close to finishing - well done Ali!

Sheesh, what an adventure that must have been. 32 miles across a channel, only to be left for dead by the escort boat.  She deserves a refund.  In my book, she finished.

Great job Ali Cat!

Yeah.. Well done Ali.. Great effort and being so close to the end is a finish in my book after going all that way. Hope you're feeling better now. See ya at the Mambo.

I noticed a lot of the Maui guys were not there. What's up with that?

Is this because of the 14' limit for teams??

Yeah Mike, everyone here has unlimited boards. I don't know a lot of people here that ride a 14 footer. I prefer the 14', however it seems that I'm on the every other year plan due to the financial aspect and my brand new addition to the family. I actually like the idea of the relay being geared towards the 14' class. I was excited that Aaron Napoleon jumped on a 14' race board for the Naish Race. I hope more of the top guys follow that trend.

I'm looking forward to next year's race series already...
