Molokai 2010
« on: July 22, 2010, 01:01:30 PM »
I can't believe there isn't a thread on this topic.  This race is the Holy Grail of paddling and no one is discussing it (at least from a cursory review of the recent threads...)

OK, rant over.  We leave tomorrow for Molokai tomorrow and looking forward to seeing everyone over there for the race.

Personally, I'm hoping for moderate trades; not too weak, not too strong.

Good luck to everyone doing the race!

Too bad this event couldnt be broadcast like Battle of the Paddle. My question is why? This is the best water event and conditions of all water sports OC-1 and Standup.

Agreed. Surprised to not see an earlier discussion on this race.

Good luck to all the racers - who are racing as I'm typing...

I'm looking forward to this live streaming technology to get better.

It's great to be looking over the shoulder of the support crew cheering their man on during the race and getting a front seat view of the action.

It looks like Dave is not on his regular SUB Naish 17'. Does it look like a F18'?  My question why the change in boards? Looks like more bouyancy and more rocker.

It would be a bit strange since Naish is his major sponsor.

Are you referring to that pic that I just posted?.. That's Ekolu Kalama on the light green board.

It looks like Dave Kalama first.. Ekolu Kalama second.. Scott ? third.. Michi (Naish) fourth and Connor coming in fifth.. then Livio.

Dave Kalama does look like he was on his 17' Naish Glide.
