Some pic's of the new PSH 14 " down winder and the 12'6" race Hybrid.

This is what Blain Chambers said about the 12"6"

"It's hard to describe the joys this board will bring.... You can race
it, play with it or surf the shizzle out of it! We've been riding the
prototypes and it's insane the combination of paddling and the level
of surfing you can reach with a board that you can cruise around with
quickly.... The photo's and vids coming will blow your mind!!!!!

Testing again today and this time a Hybrid 12-6 meant to paddle if you
like paddling, race if you like racing and surf if you like surfing.
Austin took it out this morning and destroyed some sections surfing
it. Yup, this thing surfs unreal! Not just going straight but
legitimate hard carving turns, floaters, off the tops etc. It's
ridiculous in the surf and it paddles sweeeet..... The future is right
here... Hybrid Surf/Race boards... Slam sections or
paddle fast for miles... Yeah!!! "

Also some pics of Aaron Napoleon and his son Riggs  during the Battle
of the Paddle distance race.

I wonder how long the wait list is going to be for this one. Anyone out there got any ideas what there 14' is going to retail for?

Interesting to see that they went with black. I wonder if the sun will affect it much.

JP,
I was thinking the same thing.  Perhaps black is the prototypes?  Black is nice, very stealthy looking, like a "Ninja", but gets so hot, epecially sitting on a rack on the truck.  The white bottom of my board barely gets warm at all.  I'd love to hear an unbaised review, maybe Evan will get on one.

Isn't the black color the result of unpainted carbon fiber skin? Keeping it as light as possible?

You can do it lighter with paint. With paint, you can skip the heavy, clear pretty hot coat, and do a squeegee hot coat lightened with filler. The light weight fillers make it ugly, so paint is required. It's more labor, so it's more expensive than just brushing on some clear resin.

The other factor is customer appeal. Carbon is expensive and if the buyer can't see it, and show it off, it's hard to sell a board for $2500-$3000. But that's what they are worth.

If the buyers were a little more educated, we'd see an end to clear coated carbon and carbon boards could be painted and shapers could get what they deserve for carbon boards.

It's just the prototypes that are black.  Blane has said that the production models will be light colored.

By any chance did he speak of price range?

Well they look great.  Any idea of the volume, ie any good for your 230lb paddler?
