SUP Cake!
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:42:15 AM »
Last summer my son and I went on a SUP camping trip.
We strapped our gear to our boards and paddled to an island in Lac La Biche lake in northern Canada.

Today is his birthday - so I had a friend make this cake for him.
Just thought I would share.

I'm getting married at the end of July; do you think it's too late to ask for an SUP groom's cake?

That guy that made your cake has some mean skills.  I love the wood on the starboard  and he did a good job making him look like your son.  Happy B-Day!  I wish I could have SUP Cake.

Cool cake, but more importantly how did running the straps under the board effect performance if at all??  I want to do a trip to algonquin next summer for a couple days and would prefer not to have to put plugs or stick on hooks on my board.

A friend once did the same thing on one of our trips and after he said that he would not do it again.

He said that the board was noticeably slower.

That's a great cake.

I bet the cake artist was thanking God that you guys hadn't gone on a 16-person dragon boat trip.

randal.brown - - it was such a mellow paddle - both directions - that the straps around the boards were not really noticeable.

Boludo - yes the gal that made the cake is very talented.  if you look close the Starboard design on the board is very detailed.   The "rocks" around the edge are all eatable - and they really look like rocks.
In fact everything was eatable.
We saved the figure of my son as a keepsake.

Svein at Starboard thought is was cool as well.
