Mine comes from a nickname with a paddle.

My house in Maui is on Pono Rd, and it's a very Pono (excellent) house, so I call it Ponohouse.  extending that to calling myself PonoBill has it's downsides. I've had a few Hawaiian people say I'm taking on a big burden that I'd better damned well live up to. Pono is a good thing to strive for, but it's a responsibility, and saying you've achieved it is not exactly kosher. Pono and Aloha both have some mystical, philosophical and social weight to them.

I just liked the way it sounds. And my favorite fish is Ono (wahoo).

mine is one that ive always used everywhere online, champ is short for my last name champion (hard name to live up too...lol) and crow comes from my favourite aussie rules football team the Adelaide Crows no afiliation at all with SUP just me being simple.

All of my best friends and my most influencial life lessons have been discovered through the River.  Plus all of my buddies call me river and my radio controlled offroad racing nickname is River.  They all think I am crazy

SO it would be fair to say Mine comes from where I grew up for the last 30 years.  I have paddled virtually my whole life and have spent up to 300+ days a year paddling and chasing whitewater all over the world.  After a few bad landings, 60+foot waterfalls, and millions of miles of sitting on my ass chasing rapids my back is broken and really, really hurts w/o doing dailiy pilates and core strength training. Not any more-thanks SUP! I saw SUP for the first time out here in the Gorge and I was instantly on the warpath for a board.  The paddle came easy as i had designed a paddle for Whitewater (the ATX and AT2 by Adventure Technology16 yrs ago) so i had some connections... The rest is history, But I am looking forward to the future and the next overhead right. Aloha
