Broken Board Repair?

I've got a Starboard(an entry level AST) that is broken in two pieces right by the handle.

Is a fix possible or worth the effort?

I have fixed two Mr Easy's three times between them after they broke in half (out in too big of surf).  I never quite had them in two completely separate pieces, there was always some strings left to hold them together and line things back up straight.  I was able to fix them though.  I feathered out the edges of the break with a handheld belt sander about 3-4" on both sides, then glassed the gap with gradually increasing widths of heavy fiberglass, also making sure to epoxy down any delaminated areas.  The big deal is to add a lot of glass to the rail area of the break as this acts as an I beam for strength.  They never broke again at the fixes, always a new spot.  The breaks were both infront and behind the handle.  Doesn't look pretty, but works.  If you're ok with fiberglassing and have the materials it might be worth it.
