sticking pad on star traction???

i bought used star board that has that star traction or what ever they call it stuff on it can i get this stuff off or can i just stick the new pad right over it? guy who sold it to me said pad will stick right over it. thanks

I have had different results with pads sticking to Startouch.
It seams the 2009 sticks better.
The 2010's have come off in the surf on the front pad section.
Probably from the white water catching the leading edge and peeling it back.
I have then re applied a new pad to that area using a heat gun to get the adhesive
stickier, then putting the board in the sun for a while until the pad heats up,
works sometimes. I have been able to salvage the pad by gluing it down with 3M 30NF Adhesive.
Yes I cleaned the board with acetone like the pad manufacturer recommends.
Looks like Easy Rider recommends sanding.
Will try that too.

so clean board with acetone, then sand where star touch is?  then put down pad? thanks

Sand or no sand,
Acetone before applying pad.
If it doesn't stick dry it out and glue it.
