Paint for a Bark 18'
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:32:13 AM »
Just picked up a used Bark 18'.  WHAT?  I know, I am not a distance guy but I can't resist a deal... and I have been thinking of doing some coastal excursions... and that Oregon downwind race in the late summer looks like an adventure... anyway, it has some damage to the front area that has been repaired functionally, but cosmetically, it looks a little lame.  I was thinking of doing a bright colored "band" around the repaired area so I don't have to match the paint color.  Looks like a fiberglass deck and cf hull... any suggestions on how to do this, what paint to use, whether I should primer first, whether I should use a sealer at the end... yes, I am clueless.

Any help would be great... and I will do before, during and after pictures.

Thanks,

Tim

Check out the 2 part Por-15 hardnose paint. Shits bulletproof. Prep with a sanding coat at 120 grit, paint on and drag through the gravel.

Just take it to Charlie at Bark.  He is the master and he will make it look like new.

Besides, we all need you to focus on your anti-PFD and pro-SUP access legal work.  ;D

Capo,

You are right... what the heck was I thinking... If I have the time to fix that finish, I should be either in the water, working for my fellow SUP'ers (or instead working to feed my family...), or hanging with the family... not sanding and painting an aircraft carrier... :o

Are you going to swap out the deck pad?  The floor mat pad glued to the deck wasn't that nice after an hour or so, but your feet probably get use to it.

H2O Bro,

I am going to remove it and place it in my shower... actually, I have no idea... but the time I got to LA, it was getting dark... the clock was ticking... I got a quick explanation, figured out how to change the rudder from regular to goofy, threw it on top of the Swagger Wagon... (yeah, that's right... don't be jealous beatches... sold the 911, scored the SWAGGER WAGON!!!!!!!!!)... and blasted.

Will do!  for the pad and the nose...

Can't wait to paddle that thang!  Unfortunately, it looks like overhead surf this weekend.   ;)
