My son is not digging his 9 foot C4 and wants to go smaller. I am thinking a 7 footer that is 24 inches wide and 4 inches thick with some good rocker. The rear will be a winged swallow tail on a quad setup. Doe's anyone have input or thought ideas on thickness, tail, etc? My son weighs 95 lbs and the board will be a back up for my other son who is learning to surf.

I don't know. As I've begun to hit the minimum amout of volume for my size with boards that are narrow but thick. Now I'm starting to wonder about wider but thinner.  Without better info, I propose 26 wide by 3.5 thick for your son as compared to 24 by 4. Just a thought. Maybe a quad?

Thanks Tony. His C4 is 26 wide and 3.5 thick. I may keep those dimensions on the 7 footer but still playing with ideas. My son has good balance and he wanted something shorter for 1-5 foot waves. I am definetly going with smaller for safety issues but other dimensions are open.
