Made a new mount for my Go Pro...
« on: February 21, 2010, 12:12:32 PM »
I never liked the paddle mount and really never used my GoPro..
This might be cool..It shoots well i have tried it....The Screw is tight and needs a phillips head driver to be moved..
And the pieces of floataition work fine to keep hat afloat if it gets ripped off my head..
Will bring on Bali trip...

Something about a sharp drywall screw near your eyes doesn't seem right to me. :-\  Maybe you should plan on putting a piece of duct tape over top of the screw to keep things safe.  I know the odd of getting poked are slim, but shat happens.

Attach a small waterproof case on the back strap to store spare batteries while counter-balancing the GoPro weight...

I've had my baseball cap go pro and olympus mount for about a year, works great and gets smiles from everyone.....and make sure you had a float in case it comes off in a wipeout.

Used one bolt, one nut and two washers from Ace Hardware, total cost 62 cents.

Oh yeah, I see it now....cool.
I did get mine knocked off and it floated up right next to me.

I also ran the cam leash through a safety pin and pinned it to the side of the cap, glad I did because on my first GoPro mount I didn't use enough epoxy and the mount broke but the leash saved my camera.

The cam mount is not only good when you're on the water but anywhere you go.
For example, I was at a bbq after paddle surfing and everyone had seen my cam before so it was no big deal that I was wearing my cap and nobody thought I was recording, was funny watching it afterwards.

Here's my 62 cents. The bolt threads perfectly into my Olympus tripod mount at the bottom and also my custom made GoPro mount with recessed epoxied nut.

The whole thing took about 5 minutes to drill hole and fasten bolt to bill....the mount is solid and looks clean.

That is awesome, I have been fumbling around for a mounting process that works.  Great to see the exact camera and floaty I already own.  Awesome.  Are those stainless steel hardware pieces?  thanks, Brett
