Starboard Hero Feedback
« on: February 18, 2010, 05:30:43 AM »
Is there anyone out there that has picked up a Hero and has used it enough to provide opinions?

I'm 175#, 5'7" and used to surf SoCal Pacific juice on narrower, longer boards (custom Walden 9'6"x30", PSH Popout 9'6" 28.5)

Right now I'm looking to squeeze energy from Gulf Coast wind swell or Florida Atlantic storm surf.  The volume distribution on the Hero intrigues me, but user feedback would confirm my thoughts on the design.

Thanks

Easy Rider

I have not paddled the Hero yet - but I am 210 lbs and have Whopper - - so it's kinda the same.

Have surfed the Whopper a few times - in the ocean - but mostly it is wind waves on lakes here - and also behind the boat.
For my needs - it is an awesome board - the volume in the width seems to make it easier to catch the very under powered waves here.  I even used it in our wave pool last weekend.

Try and demo a Whopper - if you can - the Hero should be similar - but smaller.

I haven't seen one here on the EC (To Cold) There is a guy in Huntington Beach who I think could give you relevent feed back.

An alternative there in Cali to the Hero is the South County 8ft X 33" I've been really impressed with these boards...I tried top put a link in here but it won't work for me (operator incompetence)
Pop me a regular email and I'll give you the link karabaszJP@aol.com

HI there, yes I've ridden the Hero in head high surf and found it to be
stable and pretty safe compared to the 711 and Pocket Rocket.
The Hero has less rocker than the Whopper so it has as good a
glide or better than that of the Whopper in caching waves and paddling.

We can arrange a Demo for you if you like.

We are in Huntington Beach.
