I tried, or rather I printed a logo on ricepaper and Bill Foote tried it. Standard inkjet ink runs all over the place
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Practice on some scrap. I printed a logo and laminated it under some scrap. The colors look different after lam, so test it first.

Mine didn't run. It was a Canon inkjet.

TerryS, try using SUMI-E Painting Sketch Paper, you may find it in your local art suppy store, it works great, but sometimes it jams up, you gotta feed it in carefully. It works with most inkjets. The paper doesn't go completely clear but pretty close. The colors will fade over time, but for a do it yourself logo, it'll do.

We have been printing small and custom images on rice paper for awhile and really do not have any problems.
Remember there is NO white in an inject printer.  For home use with only an 8X10 printer this is how we do it.
1. Get as clean an image as you posibbly can in as high resolution as you can and scale it to the size you want or to the size you can.
2. Use good quality rice paper from either your local surf shop or from a printing company.  be ware of cheap tissue or tracing paper.
3. Using a 3M spray adheasive lightly spray one side of a piece of card stock and let dry.
4. Lay your rice paper on the card stock and smooth out the wrinkles, and send it thru your printer.
Now as far as quality, the prints come out rather light and somewhat translucent.
And over time they will fade in the sunlight.
We have had no issues with bleeding.

Hey guys

Check out this method from Sways. Go to near the end for Speedneedle's 'how-to'.

I've done it before -

Tape the 7.5"x10" sheet that you've cut out to a sheet of 8.5"x11".  Make sure the end that is going to feed in first is taped well where the feeder rollers will grab it - this is different for every printer.  The first few sheets will get messed up - but they will tell you where you need to tape well. Use the single sheet feeder mode on your printer.

Colors against a colored board give varied results.  The last set of lams I made were yellow for use against an avocado green board - they didn't even show up.  I had to use posca pens after the epoxy dried and trace the lam out - neat effect but not what I initially wanted.

The top deck was bamboo and the black lam was perfect.

Black lam on white/light colored board produces the best results.

The paper I used was sourced from one of the online board making suppliers.  This paper is thicker than tissue paper (the wrapping stuff, not the booger catchers), but way thinner than sumi paper.

I have not tried sumi (seems too thick to wet out) but I've seen it in rolls at Michaels.  I may try it on the next one (looks like it would pass through a printer by itself without the taping experimentation).

Last tip - use the blue painter's tape - peels back really easy so after you get a good lam printed, you're not cussing yourself for ripping it when peeling back the tape.
