Don't know how they are on the shoulders but they are great paddles. I've only demoed them a couple of times. The name says it all...very powerful grab.

I have been using a powerex paddle for the past few weeks and like it. Light and powerful not much flex compared to my other fiberglass paddle. My shoulders feel fine after over 30 hours of use with the powerex.

Likely a moot point as JimK has posted that Powerex is out of business.

Since you are coming to Maui you may want to give Niel Pryde Maui a call. They had a couple of PowerEX paddle a few weeks ago. Maybe they could hold one for you?

Great paddle if you can still get one. I have 3 and absolutely love them! Incredibly light and just the right amount of stiffness. No shoulder issues!

Sean Ordonez has a few here on Maui too, and said he's planning to have them under production again in about 6 months (but different company). They're excellent paddles.

I have been using one for flat water work outs for about a year now, and boy it is a workout.  It pulls more water than any other paddle I have and it does get you moving.  I used it last summer in the Ta-Hole Nalu and it really worked the muscles under the bicep.  I tried it a few times in the surf but found it too hard for me to gain momentum.  Great paddle, strong, and excellent company backing.

Anyone got pics of this paddle? Never saw one in a local shop.

I'm not it the shop right now to post the image, but check my site under paddles at the bottom of the page.

Glad to hear Sean will be producing them still. It was one of his prototypes that I tried the 1st time a couple years ago. So much grab I actually pulled my newb ass off the board.

Thanks for the tip!  Gary had me one in less than a week, awesome service!

I just got the edge protected, haven't paddled it yet.

Has about the same surface area as the QB, and it has more surface area deeper in the water (shorter blade length)
It also has less rake than the QB.
No comparison to the "tiny" C4!  I had troubles with getting the C4 to hold in the water, but the SO looks really powerful.

Should be interesting to see how it paddles in comparison, I think this may be my new favorite paddle (as powerful as the QB and as good wave handling as the C4?), stoked!
