How many sup's have you owned?
« on: January 26, 2010, 03:11:53 PM »
I started with a 12'6" starboard (june 2007)and surfed it for around 6 months.  Then I bought a
Naish 10'6 which surfed a lot better but I knew I could find better so I bought in april 08 a 9'8 fish and surfed it for almost a year 1/4 and then I bought the 9' fish and because I liked it so much I though the 8'5 fish would be better and it is.

So I have 5 sup's.  The main one I ride is the 8'5 because it surfs so well.  The next one to see the most use at least lately is the 9'0 fish that I rode in the surf contest for a 9' minimum but I now mainly use it for light air wind surfing. The 9'8 is mainly a backup board or loaner and the 12'6 is my loaner to get newbies on the water or I use it for just paddling.

I could not even remember half of the surfboards I have owned or built.  So I figure it may be a good time to go over the list.  In 5 years I might forget some of the sup's I have owned unless I keep the present trend of keeping them all.  I wish I would have done that with my surfboards. I might need a warehouse to store them, but there were some real collectables in my past.

With the new models coming out it may not be long before I add another.

How about you?

Ummm, a few.

LOL...Bill takes the boys and their toys mantra very seriously and given his lack of long term memory I'm sure he has no idea.

I've been very fortunate. My 1st was a gift from Bill. All wood Starboard 12-6 cruiser. I bet he wishes he still had it... ;D, beautiful board. I still enjoy using it, especially on crazy choppy days. Moved down to an 11-2 and 9-8 Starboard a year later after I bought my wife an 11-0 Oxbow and knew that I wanted to go smaller for me too. The 9-8 is a challenge for me and only comes out on the glassiest days. Another gift from my bud Mike of a 10-6 C4 was a great addition to the quiver. The 11-2 and 10-6 are my usual go to boards with the edge going to the 11-2 with its extra width. My balance still has a hard time on less stable boards. To top it all off...yet another gift (a get well) from the CCBC crew...led by Mike of my Vec 14' downwind board.
The summer of 2007 I was looking for a old windsurfer to recycle, now I have 6 boards at my disposal for all kinds of conditions...life is good. I am thinking of selling one or two and having Vec make me a custom 10' 5 fin.

I've had 6 in the 15 months since I started paddling - all Naish.
Started with a 2nd hand 10'6" and traded it in for a 9'3" and 12ft Glide about 10 weeks later.
Sold both of them to get an 8'10" and a 14ft Glide (still have both) and just got my new toy, a 17 ft Glide a couple of weeks ago.

9'6" F2 Slolom windsurf board (very tippy)
12' Obrian windsurf board (a plastic beast)
12' Bic Windsurf board (thought i'd like it better than the obrian but was wrong)
10'2" custom PSH semi pulled in nose ripper (ahhhh, finally a real board)
9'0" custom Tim Stamps Ninja Bump (fits my style of surfing better than the PSH and the shorter lenght helps too)

3 boards in the thirteen months that I have been into SUP:
11'11" Angulo, first board (wish I kept it). In fact it just died a horrible death, tied to the top of a truck as it rolled on Highway 5 (people are fine, the truck and the board... not so much).
9'8" Starboard, good first shorter SUP.
9'8"x32" custom Angulo, more foiled out nose and tail than the Starboard and a quad fin. Very surfy AND stable.
