Looks great...yea it is a bummer some of these web sites do not have a bit more info...I think the position of the rudder is important...on the f-18 it is pretty far back and if you are standing that far back going into the wind or on the flats it hurts your speed....so you can bury the nose if you are on a big swell but if the trim of the board is off it is a mess....

I was surprised at how well the steering works.. You only have to move the lever half an inch and the board turns heaps.. When tuning to paddle under the pier I usually have to paddle with wide strokes to turn the board.. With the steering I could continue with normal paddle strokes.

I stand with my toes at the front edge of the waffle hexigan in the deck grip (same on the 14) and I only move my toes an inch or two forward to hold the streering arm to use the rudder.

You seem to stand much closer to the tail on this board.. Nowhere near the center.. and the tail is very thick and chunky along with quite a lot of tail rocker keeps the tail sitting high in the water.

The nose is the most unusual part on this board.. It seems like it's designed to pierce through chop rather than ride up and over it.. The top of the nose area is like an upside down hull so that when it's under water it will push up quick and straight through the water with the ridge along the deck working like a dihedral on a paddle.

The board seems very flat without much rocker but that must be the low nose because when you look at the bottom rocker in this pic there is heaps of rocker.

It is a big plus for all those interested in the Naish 17 to have your photos and positive reporting...looks like a lot of fun.  Wish I could ride them all!

Many thanks for the photos and information!
