Oxbow sup's
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:25:01 PM »
Looking for info on Oxbow boards, as far as quality and how they hold up. I'm looking at the 11'6 to 12'1 range, , and I can count on a 4yr old being on board with me regularly. A local shop carries them, and I'm all about supporting my local surf shop, but want a little more info before buying.

I purchased an 11' Oxbow Cruiser last year in May as my first board and I have been satisfied with it.  It is probably middle of the road in terms of performance and quality but for the price it is a good board.

I used it to train for and during the Cape Cod Bay Challenge (30 mile crossing of the Cape Cod Bay) so I have probably put 100+ miles on the board in the past year in addition to dozens of surf session.  It is holding up just fine.

There are definitely better boards on the market but the pricing on the Oxbow is usually pretty attractive in comparison.

P.S. - I had my 4 year old son on the front of the board last year a bunch of time and the board handled just fine....not to mention it was a blast!

Good luck.
Whatever floats me

It's a great first board & family board.  When you outgrow it you can get a more advanced model and pass it on to a spouse or kid!

A decent board for the price and you can usually get a package deal with a paddle. I bought my wife an 11-0 a couple years ago and its held up fine in light use....lotsa miles but not much surf.
