Will I notice a difference between a 1 piece, 2 piece or 3 piece paddle? I 'm thinking of getting the 3 piece adjustable Werner Nitro? Will the flex, stiffness be different between the three. I know there is a weight difference.

My understanding is more pieces = stiffer paddle from a prior post by Mr. Gavere if I am correct. How much of a difference? Couldn't tell you.

I may be wrong, but the two piece adjustable looks like the joint of the two pieces will be right where your lower hand will go. Would be hard to put a foam grip there.

If you are just going to paddle occasionally, and want the flexibility of various lengths then the 2 of 3 piece is okay. If you plan to use it in the surf, I would stick with the one piece. I tried the 3 piece werner in the surf and found that the snap buttons at the joints were irritating me, paddle was stiffer and heavier than a one piece and I wouldnt want to be in the surf and lose half my paddle. The adjustable paddles are fine for just flat water but not for surf conditions. If you are going to use it a lot, get a one piece, paddles are personal and better not to be shared.
