10 foot wood gun ripper
« on: October 11, 2009, 11:49:36 PM »
Went to Hawaii a month ago and was really lucky to get Austin's 10 footer as he got a new 10 8 for winter.

Here are a few images and a bit of average vid. Only small waves so far will get bigger waves soon I hope.

Even in small waves the thing rips. I find the narrow thin gun tail allows really good rail to rail transitions compared to fatter shorter boards. I am 105kg (235lb) so the extra length is no issue. ;D

Thanks to Jason from West Oz Kiteboarding for taking the pics on or NW trip; I only got a couple of him.

Great in water video.  That looks like a real sweet board.   ;D

Nice meeting you Hilly on your recent visit with Andrew.

I've been riding the sister board almost exclusively since the end of Aug. It's my favorite PSH by far. The shape and dimensions are perfect for us bigger guys. I've had it out in some 12-15 faces already and once it's on the wave, I'm super confident I'm going to be alright.

I ran it as a quad in smaller waves and it's really fun but learned my lesson against the quad set up on a bigger day. Fins tend to release if there is any chop on the bottom turn and I spun out and took some beatings that day. Now I run a full time 2 plus one with a 7" Island Fin design center and two future EAs. Works like a champ.

If you think you like the board now, wait till you surf it in bigger waves. Any more fun and it would be illegal.

Hey Tony it was a pleasure meeting the person behind the computer. Jim's got a great shop! really liked the bamboo boards. ;D

Agree tried the quad option not for me. Bit slidy fun in small waves lacked a little drive, might try a set of Simon Anderson large quads.

Use blacktip sides and a 6.5 flex fin that Austin had in it works a treat. First sup I have had that could go quite vertical and snap straight down a wave. Think that is due to the narrow nose/tail and the rocker. Find it looser than the 9 6 WR I had before.
