KITESURFING A SOUTH COUNTY SUP
« on: September 20, 2009, 07:09:51 AM »
We took our new prototype surf sup The Dragon and hooked it up to a kite.

Sorry for poor video quality, the cool audio track we selected for this video is called "Wind"

Kite Draggin' a Dragon.

I'm really not into kites either but we're always looking for ways to use the sup to have fun. On a day when the wind isn't blowing hard enough, it looks like a fun way to cruise around the water.

We did paddle surf that South County Dragon sup you see in the kite vid at "Ray Bay" right next door. It was like total chaos, tide rushing out, wind blowing and waves bouncing off the jetties and coming at you at all angles. To top it off the place is infested with stingrays so you don't want to touch the bottom.

The board performed really well, I'm glad because while I was on a wave I could see a whole mess of little  frisbee sized stingrays under me scattering away from the wave...was probably in waist high water so a wipeout would've meant a couple of stingers in my feet.
