Those board shapes are so 'Bob McTavish'.. ;D  .. They should sell well.... There's a lot of McTavish fans out there.

According to Bob the 9.0 is for someone 75kg (165lb) or less.. The 9.6 is for 80kg (175lb) or less.. and the 10.0 is for 85kg (185lb) or less..... Interesting.

There will also be a McTavish sup paddle.

Here's the sizes.. 9.0 x 29 x 4 1/4" .. 9.6 x 29 1/2 x 4 1/2" .. 10.0 x 30 x 4 1/2"

Im sure at 150 litres, The 9'6 would hold a lot more that 80kgs.

Almost sounds like a typo.

I used to ride a McTavish prone shape and seen a few others around.  Great design concepts that still inspire me.

I agree, I would have thought at 150 litres it could float 110kgs or there abouts.

Anyone have any knowledge, thoughts or theories on the volume or  performance? As it stands it looks like a promising board for for the slightly heavier amongst us ???

Mctavish is a surfing design legend, and what ever he bring to the table with SUP will be worth having. I'm going to get on one of these as soon as they are available.

I've had 2 9'1" Originals, a 9'5" Ray Gleave model and a 9'1" Fireball. All super long boards. 2 were polyester and 2 were Surftech. Bob's rocker and thickness flow are magic, so I'll bet his SUP designs will be just as performance oriented. I want one!

I ordered the 9'6" shown in the first post, I should have it some time this month. No one seems to know anything about it so I hope it goes ok and is of quality construction?????

The GSI website has some info, but there aren't any pics or video shorts.....or reviews...I hope I haven't made a mistake buying it prematurely?

That said I haven't heard of a Mctavish board being bad...at all, so it should be ok.

One winter I surfed a McTavish Carver 7'7 surftech. It is the best combination of shortboard style feel and mini-mal/hybrid paddelabillity I have ever come across. /Jesper

I believe a lot of the success of these boards will depend on how much of Bobs design and team testing actually ends up in the final retail product.  In the past I know that both GSI and Surftech have not been 100% true to the original design criteria in their finished product and that the McTavish team have not been as happy with the product as they had hoped.

Well I have heard that Bob and a couple of his crew worked long and hard over the design and were very specific about that to GSI.

If he was unhappy with his previous boards manufactured by GSI & Surftech then why does he keep with them? and why would he risk his reputation bringing out a sup range if he didn't have 100% trust in them? Sounds like he's got a lot to lose if it goes pear shaped?
