No surf this weekend in So Cal... and a little bit of wind.  On Sunday, took Jr., my Naish 10'6" with mast track, and all the windsurfing stuff I got on Craigslist down to Doho.  Rigged up the Naish with an old 6.0 for Jr., the sail was a little too heavy for him... While he was doing that, I tried to SUP the old Alpha 130 liter... a little tippy, but really, really fast!  Then I tried to windsurf it 5.4) ... not much wind... not much fun, only one walk of shame, though.  Jr. took the Alpha for a paddle, and I took the Naish and windsurfed it all over... wow, what a fun way to spend a nearly waveless day.  I am going to take the straps off of the Alpha and put a deckpad on... also I am going to try a "distance" paddle on that either this week or this weekend.  Like I said, I was really impressed with the ability to ride a swell while paddling the relatively small windsurfer.  Jr. and I rode a few small waves on it and it was a blast!

I always think people believe I'm nuts or maybe lame when i tell them how much fun SUP boards are to windsurf. They seem to think I'm just talking about putting around on light days, but they're fun when it's cranking too. And then when you can go get waves, they're just brilliant. Surfing and sailing really combined, not just ripping around on a wave face, but really surfing it. So much fun.
