Armstrong DW Foilboard vs KT Ginxu Dragonfly
« on: September 25, 2023, 07:41:28 AM »
Has anyone that's ridden both of these boards and is willing to offer up a comparison? I plan to purchase one of them at 135L, mostly for winging on an Armstrong CF 2050 foil. Armstrong DW is 8'3", 21.5", 135 L and the KT is 8'4", 22", 135L. I currently ride a Naish 110L foilboard and I'm looking for something with more pitch stability and earlier takeoff. I'm pretty comfortable on a foil, but have only connected a handful of jibes. I also have significant paddle surf experience. While I plan to use the board for winging, I may experiment with foil surfing and boat wakes. I weigh ~195lb.
From what I can tell, the advantage of the KT is that it may release from the water a little easier. The Armstrong may be built a little tougher, though. It sounds like the Kalama Barracuda is still the best design, but I hear the foil tracks are too far back for Armstrong foils. Plus, they max out at 111L which doesn't sound like a ton of fun. I've played the game of chasing small boards across disciplines and I always seem to regret it.
Any thoughts about the Armstrong and KT boards? Really appreciate the help!
