There are zillion Frankie AI covers. The ones that have dynamic range are funny--they mirror the way Frank used to drop an octave or two to handle high notes. The lady gaga stuff is unmanageable.

I want to hear Ima Sumac do something by Mariah Carey.

and of course now that I've looked at the available tools it's trivial to do that. We're SO fucked.

The last few sentences of this video sum up my opinion on the fate of Hollyweird and the music industry.  Of the four artists you mention above, only 'ol blue eyes would get a click from me.

Lex said Sam Altman is scheduled soon, I'm anxious to hear his spin this time.  I'll bet he keeps a low profile from here on out.

The investment in building and processing ever larger and more fine-grained language models is going to get crazy fast. ROI is hard to find, investment dollars are not. The biggest opportunity is fraud--companies pretending to build something new, taking the money, and "pivoting". And here I thought only crypto exchanges could effectively pivot into things that make even less sense. The biggest opportunity in Crypto used to be the greater fool scenario, but they seem to have briefly either run out of fools or they just aren't great enough. Is that feasible for AI?

Kurzweil says we are on track for Turing test by 2030 and the big kahuna in 2045.  Woo hoo!

It feels like Kurzweil may be being conservative.  This is coming on fast.

Well, looks like you were correct.  That was 2 years ago.
Rogan had Ray on yesterday, I was saddened at how his verbal ability is slowing.  He's only 76. I think that's about PB's age and he seems ok.  My Mom's about to turn 92 and she's still nimble on the phone.

Anyhow, I couldn't bear to listen to Ray.  But Joe mentioned today that he asked Ray if they planned on setting up any safety guardrails for the AI.  Ray sad no, they are flooring it.  Pedal to the metal all the way.

Seems to me that forms of AGI are already here.  Sam Harris has a nice clip on that subject, and how we are likely to deal with it as it gets even stronger.

SpaceX chucking the world's largest Pez dispenser into orbit today.  High speed, low latency internet for the entire planet is on the way.  Elon doing the heavy lifting for humanity.

77. I'm definitely slowing down a bit mentally, things that were easy a few years ago are a bit more difficult. Inevitable, I guess. Still having fun though.

That's great PB, keep doing whatever it is you are doing to stay healthy.  If we can make it another 5 years, medicine will be bespoke.  A few clicks and a scan with the iphone will fix us up in a jiffy.

Oops, maybe add a few years, the Medical Industrial Cartel will slow it up - they prefer an obese, sickly population.  My bad.

Ray Kurzweil looks as though maybe he should have taken up a hobby rather than take pills to stay young.  He's no Charlie Munger.

Elon is at it again, I wonder how the MSM is going to paint him as a villain for this one.
