I have a rip-curl flashbomb 5.5/4 with zipper.  It's about 4 years old.  Doesn't get used as much as my Mutants, so minimal wear.  It is the driest suit I have ever owned.  I surfed for 3 hours friday, easy conditions but fell in plenty.   Bathing suit was DRY at the end of the day.  Had a windsurf session a month ago with the same result.  Big waves will rinse some water through.

Some of this comes down to sizes and fit.  Mutant 5/4 #1 Large/tall perfect fit was very dry.  Mutant 5/4 #2 10 years later looser fit more comfy, not as dry.   Mutant 4.5/3.5 this year model much tighter fit than #1.  Thought it would be too tight, works ok.   JP

Haha I'd expect snow nearby in NH. Correct? Oceans 49 and air is mid 40's right now in Oregon.

Cold! I don't think I've tried anything that low other than the Columbia in the winter and the wind chill on the river is nasty for sure.

I ended up with the O'Neill Hyperfreak 4.5/3.5, it was about half the price of the Psychotech and honestly felt a lot lighter and more flexible. I'm sure it probably won't last as long, but at $225 out the door, I can afford to buy one every 2-3 years. No issues so far whatsoever, plenty warm.

Hi APPST

I think my hyperfreak 4/3+ (4.5/3.5) may be more durable than my Psychotech suits. I can't find a fault with it. I was out boogie boarding with a couple of geriatric friends yesterday in a howling storm however and decided to wear the Psychotech which I recently repaired a bunch of small holes in the rubber panels front and back. It is a very warm cold water suit.

Cheers

I tried Hyperflex wetsuits but they don't fit me right (too tight in the chest, too loose in the hips).  I bought the 3/2 and 4/3 in backzip and wish I would have tried the chest zip.  The 3/2 wore out very fast, but so did my last 3/2 Oneil.  I loved the extinct Supreme brand of suits though.
We only get about a month of really cold temperatures in California where I put on a 4/3 for SUP.
I recently acquired a Patagonia Impact Short John.  I find it provides extra warmth compared to a Oneil Impact Vest (Be sure to order up 1 size from Oneil, else too hard to get on).  In 50 deg water I am comfortable in a Need Essentials 3/2 Full Suit with the Patagonia Impact Short John on a SUP.  The Need Essentials is the warmest 3/2 I have ever owned.  Fit is close to Rip Curl.  The chest zip is a really nice design.  They also make a nice balaclava hood, favorite hood I have ever used.  Their booties are also killer too (true to size), much better than Xcel or NP.
If you have a Jimmy Lewis WorldWide, try a Need Essentials Twin fin.  I am 200# and use the L.  It is like the board was made for it.

Has anybody tried a Feral wetsuit? a newish brand in San Francisco that makes fast-drying Yamamoto rubber suits?

For those interested in Yulex, Patagonia is not the only company selling Yulex wetsuits.  Patagonia was first to introduce Guayule Yules which was stiff.   Yulex is now being made from Hevea, which is stretchy.

@zacksc: Haven't tried a feral myself but they are very common in the lineup.

Srface is another Yulex suit to add to the list: https://srface.com/shop/mens-eco-wetsuit/?currency=USD

If anyone is in the market for a wetsuit meant to prevent the arteries of the major appendages from being cut by a shark bite. It uses UHMPE which has a strength to weight ratio 50% greater than kevlar:

@Hdip Thanks for the update

@Hdip, is this a legitimate business to your knowledge? They look great but my CC company is declining based on elevated fraud and chargeback levels. Anyone purchased from them?

Good question. It looked legit to me. But I did not try ordering from them. Is there a phone # you can call them on?

The need essentials usa site is down. So the story checks out. I had no reason to doubt them or I would not have posted them.
