Here is some more motivation for the 1300.

My foil Amigo Kyle has been pushing me to downwind, so I bought the 1300 instead of the 1310 because it SHOULD have a slightly higher end speed which would be good for open ocean downwinding.  Then he tells me that he was winging with it and was instantly able to do TACKS.

So, I have been working on tacks, I go out in winds blowing 18-23 and VOILA I can tack.  I had made ~ 10 On-Foil tacks ever with the 1099 before this.

Here was Day #2 of "Oh my Gosh I can tack!"  39 minutes on foil for 7 miles.  I was jibing off starboard tack, because I am goofy foot, and then riding toe side on port tack and TACKING into the wind the entire time.  So not switching my feet.  The 1300 feels like it can drop to 2 miles per hour and still not stall.

NOTE: When you do this you will need a swivel on your wing leash.  Otherwise it coils up like and old school rubber band on a balsa airplane.

6' Clark Board, 5.5 F-One V2 Strike, 90 cm mast, Short Fuselage and 450P tail.

That's awesome Denton!  I think the 1300 will very likely be in my future.   8)

How is the stall speed when getting up on foil? Do you need a lot of acceleration on take off like the HPS and I assume the ART foils?

Using a 6M Vayu Aura and 58l 4'8" wing board with the AXIS 1300. I could start on the first pump in 12MPH of wind. It was an amazing light wind setup. You can go less than 8 MPH and stay on foil it felt like. Fun in a different kind of way.

It was hard to push fast. It doesn't like to go to fast, but it can be pushed if you need to.

I'm Able to stay on foil at 6mph with my Axis 1300 weighing in at 165lbs in super light wind.

add in a long skinny board and you are up in 6-8mph. And yes, different kinda fun. Great potential for semi glassy wave whip ins with afternoon piss wind.

Great info. So what would be the upper end of its typical speed range?

KDMaui went on a podcast and said he had his fastest ever Maliko run on the 1300. So you can push it as hard as you want. :) I think my GPS average speeds were 12-14MPH over a whole session. But I was using it to try and learn DW. So plenty of low speed 8 MPH glides on it.

Great info. So what would be the upper end of its typical speed range?

I was trying to get a feel for the 1300 in bigger waves a few days ago.  I took it out twice when the buoys were 10 - 11 feet @ 14 - 15 seconds.  Meaning as big as I wanted to test.

I stuck to the 7 - 9 foot size range on my L41 7' 4" x 31" Barn Door.  The wing was a bit stiff BUT it got in early and let me fly.  I was trying to practice downwind techniques with NO WIND.

The 1300 handled 16 - 17 mph before it was semi-maxed out.  BUT I was on the 450P tail, meaning not super efficient compared to the speeds possible with smaller tails.

Switch to a 400/40 or other thin tail. I've never really found a big difference in tails until I got that skinny little 400. I don't know that I go much faster than 17mph, but I don't ever have that "I think I'm dragging something" feeling.

The 1300 has such a great wind range… low to high wind. Awesome!
