Vac bagging
« on: November 17, 2022, 03:27:27 PM »
Too stop highjacking the other thread.
Maybe start a thread and get some numbers. I wasted so much money and time. All good learning.  But if someone said in the beginning make sure you use a gauge and don't go over ? Pressure. Very little pressure and use more epoxy to compensate for the breather and peel ply. I could have saved a lot of time and money.

Peoples experience with vac bagging. Pressure, weight of cloth and peel ply. So others can learn and not make the same mistakes I made. First board i vac bagged I watched a load of vids. None said anything about pressure. I glassed a SUP and chucked it in the bag. Looked awsome for 30mins so I walked away. Came back an hour later to a shriveled up very expensive mess.
This is 4mm thick Paulownia. I only use enough pressure to pull it down.
Buy a gauge and a valve so you can regulate the pressure. Getting an airtight seal and not leaving the pump running is super important whan using EPS. If you leave the pump going you are just sucking the air out of the foam. I will control the pressure. Start light until the epoxy has started to kick then go harder.
Again I am no expert but just things I found out and that worked for me.
