Chilly early morning high tide session in Northern NJ
« on: September 28, 2022, 07:51:42 AM »
Hi all,

Got out at first light hoping to catch some small clean waves before the tide got too deep.  Air was cold, water warm, beautiful morning.

It appears today will be the last clean day (wind wise) for about a week.

Nice dawner! That first shot is surreal with the sunrise lighting. You have a nice hypnotic rhythm to your style. Seem to remember that from a while back.
Shooting in the mornings here in NJ is a challenge with the backlighting. You were smart to have the cam pointing north and surf into it. So many mornings I wish there was cloud cover to diffuse the lighting. This shot was on Sept 10th when Hurricane Earl was offshore. LOL. I was too lazy to adjust the lighting and color! Shot is right off the SOLOSHOT video.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Nice video and riding!

Conditions might improve in NJ at the tail end of next week.

What board were you on?

Nice video.

Seems as it got later in the morning, time wise, the waves got bigger.

Thanks for sharing your video.

Thanks LR!  Riding 8’10 JL Destroyer.  I agree mid next week for better conditions in northern NJ.

Thanks NW, actually the tide got too deep towards the end of the session.

Thanks LB for sharing the early dawn wave moments.

The magic is a joy. And for sometimes it is the only way to get the spot uncrowded.

Right on SurfinJ!  I’ve always been an early riser so no issues getting out when it’s still dark.

Nice video and waves. That board seems to be working well for you. Our water her in SoCal has been in the mid 70's for months. It just dropped to 65 deg the other day. Feels good. I'm still trunk'n it. When I go under it sure wakes me up! Best way to get your day started.
It's not overhead to me!

Thanks TD!  Yes, still like the destroyer a lot.  Water temps in nj this summer was erratic, just when you thought temps were warming up a steady south wind produced upwelling and temps dropped to the 50’s.  While this is not an unusual occurrence it occurred more this summer from my memory.
