GoFoil RS850
« on: September 19, 2022, 10:52:37 AM »
I'd say the hype is real. Surprisingly easy foil. Easy take-off, great glide and low stall speed all things considered.
Even more zippy with the FTS14.5 stab, great combo. Looking forward to try it with the 12.5 stab.

Easy gybe right out of the gate no tuning needed going back to back with the RS1150.

Worked perfect on both Fanatic Sky Style 4'11 and SlingShot Wing Raider 4'10. Two very different board styles.
I was skeptic about trying it with the Wing Raider, not a the ideal board for HA foils but take off was fairly easy.
With 3.5m F-one Strike V2 on a 13-18knots for my 87kg.

It's definitely not the fastest for this size category, I have bigger foils that will easily challenge it, but it's a good
balance of features. Still a lot of lift and front foot pressure.

The new finish looks a lot better imo but it does not hold well against scratches.

Overall good job by GoFoil, bringing another accessible small High Aspect foil to the market.

I'm pretty well in agreement Burchas with 6-7 hours now on this exact foil setup. Initially skeptical I could even get the 850 going on a gusty 4.2 day, then concerned it might be too big for 3.5/2.8 conditions (I'm 90Kg all up). Happy to report though that solid 2.8 conditions were just incredible, no problem holding this setup down (and no weird behavior either!). Despite the 14.5L tail looking a bit portly in comparison to the 850, not feeling any need to go smaller so far, time will tell. One little difference, I chose to move my mast back maybe 3/4" after that first session compared to the 1150 position. I'm using front straps and they're already all the way forward.

It's a bit of a different animal than the 1000/1150/1300, but in a good way :D

Quick edit: Also found that so far top speeds are roughly the same as the 1150 though acceleration is noticeably faster.
