To those in attendance of AWSI

Could someone please go to the Cabrinha/DaKine/Neil Pryde/Adventure Sports tent and find out what is going on with Neil Pryde development/distribution and also report on what DaKine plans to offering up for 2023?

Much appreciated!

Enjoy the East winds today!

My buddy that’s there said no cabrinha booth.

Actually, the security guys weren't stopping amateurs like me from walking in. I spent a little time talking with Adrian Roper from Axis as well as Califoilia and other friends. Adrian was busy answering questions, which was a good thing since I didn't have a lot of time and he and I can blab for hours. Interesting guy.

I spent some time at the Ocean Rodeo area, the new wings look spectacular. The canopy material is at least as impressive as the black Graflyte Alula. I suspect it won't stretch much with whatever the threads are that reinforce the fabric--they look like Kevlar. They offered to let me try the wings. Unfortunately, I was dressed for riding my motorcycle, not winging. I was playing with the 5M and it felt lighter than my 2.8 M Fone. The handle system looks great, and the attachment for the rigid handles are similar to the loops Mark Raaphorst used for his boom on a SMIK he favors. There's a very light full boom option too. The front handle feels fine. I've never cared about front handles before but the strange front handle on the D-Lab has me paying attention
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Pics or it didn't happen. Interested in the duotone new stuff. I heard new d/lab and units?

Tempted to drive back up there - only 12hours away and zero wind here.

I had a good the discussion with the owner of Aluula who's the owner of
Ocean Rodeo as well.

Seems like he has really good relationship with DuoTone and I suspect you'll see all these new tech trickle down to other Aluula partners with DuoTone probably the first in line.

He is also a good friend with F-one founder and I saw them having quite a long chat.  I suspect F-one is playing with these materials as well but won't introduce anything until the 2024 season due to cost.

The designer of Reedin wings also spent a good half hour talking to him in details. He was a very sought after person on this show.

Were you there Burchas? I didn't see you. I wasn't around for long, so it's not a big surprise. I was headed for a dirt bike ride and just stopped by to see who was around.

I was there. I could pick you out in the crowd easily, especially with heavy leather on so I was probably at Viento demoing bunch of stuff I took from the show.

Many people from the show still in town for the weekend, most of them were at Stevenson. It was cranking there until mid afternoon.

Maybe I'll run into you tomorrow before I leave if you're around, supposedly the westerlies are coming back so maybe a time for a good session.

Swap your 1099 for my F-one 1090 see how they compare?

I'd love to but for two problems. I don't have a 1099, just a 999, and my daughter and her fiancee are coming today so we can ride part of the Washington BDR (back road discovery route) over the next four days.

Come to think about it, the 999 is closer in specs to the 1090 so even better.
I'll text you where I ended up if there's anything rideable. I might meet Thatspec to have him demo it as well.
