Jeep Wrangler (JL) 2 Door - SUP Foil storage?

I've had a 4 door Jeep (JK and now JL) since '06, I'm debating getting a 2 door Jeep Wrangler (JL) just because I've never had one, no kids, basically only need the storage for kite/sup gear.

So my current setup is Yakima Gutter rails on a hard top, same would apply for a 2 door, I'm only 6 miles to the beach so no issues in the fall/winter. The remainder of the year I go with no top or a bikini top, and my foil/foilboard fit perfectly fine with the seats down in my 4 door. My question is.......I'm mostly on the 5'8" SUP foil, I'm wondering with roughly 4' between the front seat and rear tailgate (without rear seats - I would remove them), will the board be ok sticking out on the tailgate a bit, beside the foil. I'm not sure there's enough room given the width for the roll bars.

The other option is to just ratchet strap it to roll bars (which is what I'll do for my longboard) and keep rolling. Any thoughts?
