Upwelling Sessions
« on: July 27, 2022, 08:00:05 PM »
We've had good surf here in NJ but the upwelling's been BRUTAL. First link the water was mid 50s. Second link warmed up to low to mid 60s.
I wore my Xterra 2mil short sleeve full and diving under was NOT fun.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thanks, relaxed viewing with the empty lineup and the beach sounds.
Funny how the lighting looked hot summer but your wetsuit says something else.

Hit it today 24 hrs later and it's still around 60F. I said screw it and trunked it for the first time this summer. Was minimal swell and light winds so the baggies sesh worked out nicely. Little kid was like "Aren't you cold"! He was surfing well on a soft top and actually got these shots of me w/my Canon SX50.

Looking good surfercook !  Cape Cod outer beaches can have big temperature swings from week to week.  Super warm, over 60 last weekend.  Ice cube the week before.  I surfed Rhode Island on Tuesday and sure noticed the warm water.  Interesting I noticed a smell to the water, (lots of seaweed??)  Where the Cape waters are pristine.

Few from RI this week, Super fun.

Water is plenty warm now in NJ, but no surf! Has been flat the last week with no end in sight. Bring back the cold water and swells!!
