SUP Barrel technique anyone?
« on: July 13, 2022, 09:13:56 PM »
Not sure if this was posted. if so apologies

https://youtu.be/SnDOM10CY2Y

i note how far forward on the board some of the riders are  and how many broken boards one can expect to see pushing it hard on a wave like this one. cant imagine how beat up they must be...and how stoked.

Geez. I'm trying to decide if that looks like fun or not. I'm leaning toward not.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

yeah it looked like the NEED FOR SPEED was not being satisfied there...
seeing all the broken toys makes me think those guys are a lot younger than me and heal faster.

This probably my favorite SUP barrel video, the Kealii Mamala section at 3:35.

Find big hollow waves on the perfect break. That's the technique.  ::)
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

I've been putting in the work to become better at barrel riding on SUP. A lot of work.

First, it's a lot different, and a lot more difficult than a short board.

Second, if you want tips on what not to do, I have all the answers  ;D
