The sea grass is crazy out there.  I was struggling with the grass grabbing my foil on anything less than a 4 foot tide.  Yikes!!!

Welcome to warm water. The one thing that's kind of okay about the weather this year in Hood River is that river grass doesn't like cold water. I don't either, but it's sort of a plus. But it's negated by the crap floating in the water along the eddy lines. I got taken off my board six times yesterday driving through the current break line and whacking into stuff.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Bummer to hear this.  Sounds like a left coast wide phenomenon.  We had crazy kelp growth this winter and now the sea grass is the thickest I have seen.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

It is possible to get a permit to cut kelp and other species of marine growth in California.  I don't know what the permit costs, but here are the regulations.  It does require the permit holder to remove all cut materials rather than let them float off, and you have to record the weight of harvested materials.  I think with such a permit, a person could go out with some fins and a knife and clear the seagrass that effects foiling at any given break in a morning.  I've been threatening to get the permit and clean up my local favorites, but haven't gotten around to it.
