Thanks for putting that together. So interesting how things evolve.
Makes me wonder how Zoners first got into it. For me I was at REI, sat down on a bench to soak in a momentary bit of sun, and there was a used Randy French Surftech Universal battleship staring at me…

I think you covered that very well. The harbors here are still full of paddlers, and the race seen growing again. I still love paddle surfing and paddling distance. It's been a while since we've visited the islands. We are planning a trip there soon.
It's not overhead to me!

Thanks Robert, that was awesome!
Loved the video of John Zapotocky, it always gets me... all those years scurrying through the corners of every surf magazine available, and I never saw one mention of some odd old man, surfing with a paddle.

and yet... in that video, he was doing exactly what we do now, all these years later.
Thank God that Laird and Dave had the media attention on them, so that this sport reached the people.

SUP surfing and paddling changed my life forever, and I know it has done the same for so many people!!

Hat tip to John for seeing the potential all those decade before the rest.

Thanks again Robert, for all you do!

Creek, this is an in depth interview with John "Zap" Zapotocky, he had an interesting life:

Those were both great videos of Zap..... It is a great form of exercise and fun that can be done anywhere there is water.

Thanks Robert.... pretty cool to find out about Zap, and see how he made he adapted surfing to fit his life and made it work when no one understood it.
I am glad he lived to see it adopted by so many.
