Oxbow 11' cruiser; voids / blemishes bottom of board
« on: April 29, 2009, 05:35:35 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and new to SUPn, of which I'm loving very much by the way.

Anyways, I have just purchase a new board; Oxbow 11' Cruiser.  It appears to have a few voids in the bottom of the board.  It's not affecting the performance in anyway of what I can tell.  It surfs fine and paddles really well.  I paddled it in a lagoon with my daughter up front and It balances pretty well.  I also surfed it in a reef break off Point Loma in So California.  So far I'm having a blast with this thing, but just lately all these blemishes on the bottom of the board is beginning to bug me.  I just thought it's normal for a lower quality production board from Southeast Asia to have a few imperfections in cosmetics considering that there much cheaper and just mass produced.  So, I ask of you guys if this is pretty normal and just accept it.  This is one of my two SUPs, my other board is a custom from a local shaper here in Carlsbad that I bought used, but does not have any of these foam voids.  Here are pics of it.

Can I please have some of your views on this.  thank you all in advance.

Jeff

Where these pictures taken right out of the box, or had it had some use?

Hi,

I've had this for a week now.  These pictures were taken today.  The board has been used twice, once in the surf and once in the lagoon, But this is how it looked when I took it out of the box.

Thanks,

Jeff

pretty common on far east factory baords to have dimples like this

i would send a note to the retailer and to the manufacturer noting your
concerns and seeing whta they say

if they grow then you have a real problem and the board should go back
and having noted the letter above you should be covered

I noticed some imperfections in the finish but no dimples in my wifes Oxbow 11 last year when it was straight out of the box. They were covered with the pad so i wasn't concerned. It's been a great board for the price.

I'd follow bigdom's advice.
