Beat me to it!

Looks great! X-ply is hardly exotic, so hopefully not too expensive. Would like to understand the weight implications though and whether there are any compromises. KD has commented that he prefers the ripstop canopy for surfing but this is amazing for efficiency and upwind performance. Perhaps more of a free race wing?

We’re going to be on Aluula and X-ply in 2023 or Hookipa fabric and X-ply.

So if X-ply is a $300 premium and Aluula is a $600 premium, a 5m will cost $2000 in 2023…ouch.

But the wing will perform as new for several years with those changes. We can stop buying new wings every 6 months.

BTW, wing “design” needs to get better too, otherwise these “super stiff everywhere” wings will beat you up in gusty wind. The OR is buttery smooth so far, so they may have figured that part out. Need some real high wind to see if current feeling in testing, continues through the range.

Just read that the leading edge is triple layer. These can't be light, so a marriage with Aluula sounds like one that should work very well.

Just wary that the more refined these become, the more the range will suffer for a particular size? No idea if that concern is legitimate or not...

Kane gave his review on the Aussie forum. He prefers the standard construction for surfing. The X-ply for speed.

I really liked this guy's review.  Light hearted and informative.  They should hire him to do PR.

Looking forward to getting to try one of these wings, makes perfect sense, especially going to lighter 1mm xply! Additionally, as with windsurf sails with x-ply if you do manage to stab/tear your wing, the damage will be limited significantly by the x-ply fibres. I've had huge 3 foot tears in my dacron wing canopy from a light touch of the foil. My windsurf sails have had full speed, full body weight catapults into them with harness hooks and only dented or punctured a few inches of tear.  I've also had windsurf sails fly onto nasty sharp upright fins on the beach with only minor inches of tear as damaged is contained by the xply thread(s).

I ordered a 5M--the only larger wing that was in stock. I'm looking forward to comparing it to my Strikes. I LOVE the design. So many excellent ideas in one wing. Having a taut canopy is a huge deal. A smaller leading edge would make this about perfect. I don't know what the price would be like, but X-ply triradial and an Allula leading edge would be amazing. Probably a bit stunning for cost. I'm still a little stung by pressing "buy" as it is, but it's my 75th birthday present to myself.

4.7m is about 2 lbs heavier than an F-one. That is heavy.

Thanks for the link to the weights. I pasted the 6 meters into a spread sheet. The big size is the most critical to me.
