Max volume for prone
« on: October 13, 2021, 06:49:21 PM »
Anybody have thoughts on volume for prone, what is too much? 86 kg rider
I want to try prone but don’t want to spend the money on a board. I was going to try my 90l wing board, bad idea?

Why not? You don't have to sink to prone, though most do.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Definitely give it a try,you already got the board.

I have proned a Naish hover 85l, at 5.2 it is not a super fast glidey paddler but it definitely gets earlier into waves than a prone and provides a very stable platform to pop up.

The drawbacks for me are:
-I cannot really duckdive it, in the small stuff you would normally use it it is no problem. But when it is a bit bigger it gets really corky ,add the foil pushing up and it becomes a handful to hold it.
-Less responsive surfing and way harder to pump out.

Hi,
You could use the large board to learn the catch the wave, pop up and fly - that pop up & fly part is what sup foiling is missing. But a true prone board will be much lighter and fly different.
Can't hurt to try.
