I did a SUP race yesterday and it was fun!
« on: October 31, 2021, 10:41:14 PM »
It's been probably 3 years since my last SUP race. I started paddling distance again because my knee has been getting swollen biking and walking. Someone suggested I do the race in Dana Point Harbor that was coming up. I'd been paddling a lot so I figured I'd do it. Glad I did. There were probably 200 paddlers which surprised me. Good to see lots of race boards and talk with old racing friends that I hadn't seen for years. Just like old times. Mellow vibe, cheap entry, T-shirt, lunch, and a great group of old and new racers to hang out with and talk paddling.

I'm thinking about the Hanohano in January.

Yep. Basically a 3k sprint race or fun paddle. Some people wore costumes. Danny Ching won ::) You could race anything, just age and gender groups. They had a chariot pull (2 SUPs pull and person on a Tandem Surf inflatable boogie board) which I was one of the horses. Our team took 2nd place, but we be Danny's team. So it was a win ;D  They had a bunch of other short buoy races with a lot of pivot turns that are a no go on my unlimited. Fun morning.
