3 SUP paddlers dies in Wales
« on: October 31, 2021, 09:19:18 AM »
Just saw this on BBC
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-59104329

Maybe it is my lack of reading comprehension... but the article doesn't seem sot state what actually happened beyond being caught in heavy rain.

The ocean can be an unforgiving place. Being on a SUP in nasty conditions can overwhelm even the most skilled waterman/persons. Sorry to hear about it:(
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

I was under the impression it happened on a river and the river was fast due to rain.

If it was a t the mouth of the river, of course the ocean tide could have added.

Wow... the man in the articles was a very accomplished paddler, swimmer and soldier.
Young, fit athlete and Paddle instructor.
A wake up call that this can happen to anyone... so plan wisely, know the weather and use your best judgment and equipment.
