Armstrong HA195 Tail Info?

I saw a mention over on Seabreeze of an Armstrong HA195 tail and that he had preordered, but no other info anywhere else on the web that I could find. Anyone over heard anything about it, seen any pictures, or ???

I rode a HA925 with the V-Tail and it was WAY too squirrely for me, so I'm thinking I'll wait for the HA tail to pull the trigger on a HA front wing.

That was probably me mentioning I had the tail preordered. I ordered the tail the same time I ordered the 725. No word on the ETA on the tail at the moment.

Regarding your squirrelly 925/fv200 test run, what shim setup and which discipline?  Lots of talk about negative shimming the HA wings to maximize stability at high speeds.

I push my HA wings right around the 20mph mark under wing power and DW and I can handle the instability with a +1 setting, so Im keen to try out the - shims I got from Kane to see what I can achieve.  Ive only tested the 725 with the 232 tail btw.

We were tow-in surfing. 925 front 60 fuse 85 mast. Had no issues with the 232 tail but couldn't even get up and riding with the V tail.

Rumor from NZ is the final design has recently been selected.  So I guess it's still a ways out (Production / shipping etc.)

Tails are shipping, tracking says mine comes tomorrow. It is full on cold winter here so I wont get water time until I hit FL in about 2 weeks.

Mine came in too. Its very thin at 11mm right near the center. The fv doesnt get that thin until around 1/2 way to the tips. Kdmaui tail stab is close at 12mm.  Cant wait to give her a rip!

Gave the 925 and HA195 stab a run today (-1). Conditions were 15-25Mph with a 4M BRM, well powered up, flooding tide against the wind in a river/bay with short wind fetch setting up the odd knee high sets.

First thoughts were great until I tried to gybe and I came off foil (hadnt done that in ages). Started getting worried so I kept cruising up wind to meet a friend.  Failed my first tack. Worried more. Seemed like the glide I was expecting wasnt there. As I felt the tail wing out more, I realized the glide was there, but I really needed to be on my game. No wishy-washy transitions allowed. Need to set your bank angle and hold and you are good. 

The ride itself (not making transitions in these specific conditions) felt amazing.  Ive been really digging the powered up S carves lately and this setup was amazing. Super easy to set steep bank angle with the rear ankle and power through turns.   

The end of the session offered up a mogul field of knee high runners criss-crossed with other bumps. I was brought back to my east coast snowboarding roots and ripped them apart, finding the runners and banking and slashing everywhere. Weaved my way through the kiters mowing the lawn catching some air in the shallows with a smile on my face.

Going to try the stab at -2 next, or plus 1. Felt faster than the fv200 unchopped.  Happy with it so far. With the investment over the fv200, jury is still out!

I'm two sessions in with the 925 and 195 and one session with the 725 and 195. Here's what I'm noticing:

1. Easier to get on foil with lower stall speed on both front wings: At 165lbs, I was getting onto foil with the 925, 4.2 Reedin Xwing, 69L board in barely 12knots of wind and staying on foil when the lulls almost made the water glassy.
2. More glide and easier to pump
3. Both front wings are WAY more pitch stable with the 195
4. The 925 is much more surfy (aka easy to turn) with the Flying V, but not horrible with the 195
5. With the 725 the 195 is golden and really unleashes the performance from that wing because of the pitch stability and lower stall speed
6. It's definitely faster than the V but not by a massive margin

Shim wise, I find both the 925 and 725 work well on the A+ system with the plus .5 shim which makes the set up -0.5. With the V, I was riding with a -0.5 making the set up -1.5. I don't think that's necessary with the 195.

Anytime I'm riding the 725, I'll be using the 195. In super light conditions the same will be true for the 925, however when a little more powered up, I'll likely still use the V with the 925.
