Have we lost touch?
« on: October 06, 2021, 10:22:28 PM »
This is a picture quote thread. What comes to mind when you see this? I'll start.

"What has the world of surfing come to?"

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Certainly a good start, but shouldn't the entire wall be padded?

That's a cool picture, but I suspect not a kook. Either some dude with too small an apartment to store his board any other way, or some kind of gen-Z ironic statement. Still funny, still cool.

People who come into my shop and see my board elevator think it's an art project. I guess in a minor way it is, though it's mostly just a way to store my boards out of harm's way--there's lots of potential for harm in the shop. The Woodie Javelin on top is mostly for show, though I enjoyed paddling it in flat water--the fat geezer equivalent of a 22" wide raceboard.

I'm not the brightest flashlight in the drawer, but I see; 'I had fun. I can surf.'  I guess the same lineup attitudes prevailed when the Morey Boogie was introduced ...when guys like me could stall and chase down waves with a kite. ..when old guys on SUPs sat outside and snaked every decent wave that showed up. (we had a guy here — big, maybe early 50's, who picked the most popular break at the federal beach and dominated it) I see guys on 'Tour quality' bikes and colorful lycra, but I have an old mtn bike I use on our country road and enjoy my rides.
