Carbon Fiber ding repair
« on: July 15, 2021, 07:40:08 PM »
Howdy folks, had a nice taco today, with a side of shin pico de gallo. Any recommendations on how to repair this nice gouge in this slingshot high roller with partial carbon construction? Can I use a regular ding repair kit? Solarez? Thanks for any info from the vast zoner brain trust!

As long as it is the epoxy version of Soarez and not the traditional polyester version.  It would be great if you could match the factory layup schedule, carbon fiber and glass, but straight fiberglass cloth would probably be more than adequate for a small ding.

Get thee to a pro. That looks nasty. I'd probably take it on myself, but the end result would not be pretty. That's more than a ding, that's busted, and it's structural. Don't even think about Solarez.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Well I didn’t have time or resources to go to a pro shop or get anything besides the Solarez I already had in my kit, so I went for it. Results are pretty good I think!
