New ads or malware for me?

Admin, was there a change to the ad system? I’m on an iPad using Chrome and I’m getting full page coverups when I click on a topic. And then ads inside (inline) the posts.

Badger had a swimsuit ad in his post. Confused me to death. Anyone else seeing this or do I have some weird thing happening?  I hope it’s a major bump in revenue for you as it’s adding 20 “x” clicks to every visit. Not complaining (much) just confirming that this was a plan and not some weird forum software mess up.

When I click on a topic I don't see any ads covering or over laying the topic.

I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 29.2.1 as my browser of choice running in 64 bit Linux Mint 20.2 (Uma) in the Xfce desktop environment. I just installed Mint 20.2 on this hard drive this evening since 20.2 was publicly released today.

I've also got linux uBlock Origin 1.16.4.29 installed which is my adblocker of choice for my linux Pale Moon browser.

Same here on the iPad. I figured let the site make some ad money and not run the ad blocker.

I use an adblocker with my browser because some sites are so over ridden with ads, the page (or pages) come to an almost stand still making the browser almost unworkable.

Hi guys,

There are two things going on.  Both are Google changes.  The expand to full page thing is something Google sells as an expensive upgrade option for advertisers.  They started pushing that more last year and we have seen more full page ads here since then.  The ads in content option is an automated "intelligent" ad placement thing that Google has rolled out more recently.  It will put adds in locations where they are getting the most views and clicks and it will populate some new regions.  It isn't malware.  I appreciate your patience with these placements and hope they are not too disruptive.  We get paid both for showing the ads and for clicks so it is beneficial for them to be here.

It’s ok. Good to know I’m not going crazy.

It’s all good. Happy to allow an ad but yeah, intrusive on a forum where you’re loading a lot of pages. But we will live. lol
