This little text snip now appears at the bottom of each Yahoo News article where the comments section had previously been.  Can't help but see the humor in this .

A few months before Covid hit (back in around August 2019),
our local newspaper, which is owned in a big
conglomerate of newspapers, suspended
its Comment Section.  The newspaper said it was due
to name calling in the Comment Section; however, from what I saw,
name calling was minimal, if any.

To me, killing the comments, really killed the value of the paper.

The paper had already cut staff. 
There was almost always far more good
content in the comments both on local stories and
on national stories. Of course, you had to wade through it.

It seemed to me that they killed the comments because
they didn't want a discussion of certain points of view.

I've seen the Youtube comments, if Yahoo is anything like that, then the world is a better place without them. Ten minutes reading youtube comments and I'm ready for the cockroaches to take over the planet.

They tried for four years. Ultimately got squashed in their final attempt early January of this year. But they're still hiding in the dark recesses of cover of something they're trying to call "democracy", but don't understand what it means. Their latest infestation is in a new crop of "peaches".

I just went to check the comments.  I have to treat the comments on the YouTube stuff like they are 'bots."  The BOTS are just there to get you riled up enough to buy something.



One of the comments was related to another video I posted.  This video meanwhile got 500 hits from random people because I sucked them all in with "Those Aren't Mountains Those are WAVES" Last month.

I would much rather see comments, even if I don't' like them, then not have any comments.

I read or follow "news" if it has a comments section, I wanna hear what people have to say.

I bought some poor quality gear and the company's videos had comments disabled, red flag for me now.
