Dang, thought Dimitri was gone for good. Probably just as bad as his kites.

Clearly some history here. Ninja, why do you think we need another brand? And Foo, why do you slag them? lol

Inquiring minds want to know.

@Ninja Tuna: thanks for sharing.  The design features look interesting.  I'm curious to hear ride reports with the 7M.  I like how they color-code each size.  It makes it easier to see what size somebody is riding in the water.  If not color coded, I like big print on what size the equipment is, so it can be easily read from the shore.
For those not familiar with Dimitri he was a team rider for Airush in the early years, which at the time, was one of the top brands imo.  I thought Airush was affiliated with Rush Randle, but there is no relation.  Dimitri and Feliz Pivec left Airush to join Eclipse kites.  When sle kites came out, they were the first to have the best sle wave kite imo, which set the standard for other brands to follow.   After Eclipse kites, Feliz Pivec started Switch kites and Dimitri started Epic kites.  I've only owned one Epic kite, the 2.5M Tutor.  I like it better than another brand's 2.5M (of which I really liked that other brand's 5M (one of my favorite kites).

I have no history, I post videos of all kinds stuff to share if I can find the before DejaVu.  I did not say anything about needing another brand.  More the merrier.  Brings innovation.

Cowboy,  All you need to do is look a General Motors' history from the '70s thru the 2000s to confirm you (the consumer) need options. We, here, would all be driving Gen1 Pontiacs if GM dominated.

I am a little off-put by Dimitri's (anybody's) 'hard sell' in his presentation.   My only direct encounter with him: he was essentially forced by the shop owner to give me a kite lesson in HAT in the early 2000s.  I remember him as a type to 'not suffer fools' well. But - that may be the energy required to break through what seems a pretty full market.  I hope his wings make others work harder.

Got it. And please don’t read anything more than curiosity into my comment. As a noob to the wind game I’m always trying to get info on the 40 years of history I missed.

Also starting to think this wing thing could be bigger than thought. I greatly underestimated the size of the potential market.

Y’all are talking to a guy who forgets that Robbie Naish was a windsurfer.  :D

I was about 35 when I started windsurfing, Robbie was about ten or twelve then and dominated the sport. Every windsurfing mag cover that didn't have a shot of some babe in a bikini (Usually Rhonda Smith) had a requisite photo of Robbie ripping in ways that were as far from most windsurfer's experience and capabilities as a wingfoiler pulling off a double back loop.

Even after experiencing the huge boom and inevitable bust of windsurfing I was completely unprepared for the stunning growth of Wingfoiling. It's gonna be big, and then it's going to contract like SUP downwinding--suddenly and with consequences for the overextended folks. In the meantime, enjoy the diversity of options and find a quiet place with some wind and water to have fun.
