SUP surf session Flash Mobbed by Sharks
« on: January 29, 2021, 03:09:27 PM »
Tiny clean waves were made a lot more entertaining by a fair number of sharks around me for the entire 2 hour session.

The GoPro makes them look smaller and farther away... but they were very close and most around 5' to 6'.
I love watching them swim in such clear water and better yet... cruising in a wave in front of me.

Last year I was out during a migration, with 100's of sharks around me at all times, but I didn't have my camera on me.... so I was happy to film this mob.  :)

At least they seem a bit more friendly than the those New England mobsters you typically are wrangling with.

Welcome to FL, lol ... yep, like most everywhere, you gotta respect the locals! But those fellers look a tad bigger than what I normally see and I woulda cut the sesh short too, especially if i'm the only one out.
Hopefully you'll get another chance with the Casey Flow, and can give us a report. Those step rails look nice.

ha ha... that's why I can enjoy the aquarium down here.
They are just plain fun to observe... especially when they are in a wave in front of you!

I am hoping for some good waves in a few days to give it a good test.  I am eager to get a real feel for it!

They are always around, just usually in much fewer numbers, so I get to watch them a lot.
They never make me uncomfortable, but there were so many in the whitewater that I decided it was a good idea to go have lunch  ;D

I'd rather have our Great Whites than those Bulls.... they are too testy for my liking.

Funny video creek :) I'll take those warm shark infested water over the skin breaking ice cold water of the blizzardy NorthEast.
BTW, that Shark was just giving you the stink eye... Having size and girth advantage doesn't make it ok to drop-in on his waves consistently you shark bully ;D
in progress...

Ricky 'the shark magnet'....    A buddy in the Pvt. label trade near Melbourne had (what he thinks) a small Lemon give his thigh some heavy lacerations a few years ago in the shore break.  You be careful.
