San Francisco Bay Area windy season is like March to November so going to use onewheel to start learning.

This is only video I can find:

We had a five week lockdown last year when we were not allowed on the water so I had to resort to this:

I find the onewheel helpful for honing foil skills, or it feels the most like foiling even though no land board feels like foiling.

The sketchiest part of a onewheel is the roll "axis" that square tire does funky stuff when it rolls onto the side wall, and deliberately pulling oneself sideways with a wing sounds super sketchy (in the video he almost eats it doing just that).

Maybe someone can clue me in, but adding a wing to a powered device seems like sailing a cigar boat, why combine uncomplimentary power sources?

I would suggest a non-powered skateboard, or get one of Jean's street sailing boards, that's what they are riding in the first part of that video.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

I think it’s just good to use onewheel and wing when there’s no wind but then there’s greater wind force created in front of you from moving so then it’s like you’re sailing directly upwind which you never do.

Maybe just go real slow and pretend there’s big wind while you move around!
