I noticed that the guy Pat who eFoils at Doheny all the time takes the battery out right on the shore. Carries the battery to his truck first, then goes back for the foil.

Yup, I figured that one out pretty fast.

Nice efoil Bill and yes they are pretty dam heavy the new ones are much lighter. Which wing are you using ? do you know all the Takuma Surf/Sup wings fit straight on plus the new Kujiras , I did a review on them a while back definitely the most stable efoil to start on.

I agree with Piros - several of us have the eTakuma's in Seattle.  They are heavy but a blast to ride, especially in the waves.  One of my buddies has the Carver model which is a 5' 3" board which has a taller mast.  The taller mast makes a big difference riding in freighter and wind waves.  They are a cheaper foil than the Lift/Flite but I think a good starter board.  The Lift will probably me my next eFoil with the tallest mast they make and with the folding prop. I am betting the next generation efoils are going to be lighter.

One way or another I'm going to fit a longer mast. I'd like to go to something around 80CM. I disassembled everything and it looks like I could reach 80CM without extending the wiring--just taking all the bends and slack out.

Initially, I thought the weight was all in the motor and battery, but it's not the case. the board and controller is the heaviest part. That seems very strange and is certainly easier to lighten than either the motor or battery.

I can always extend it, it's just three wires. Heavy gauge to handle the current, but no big deal.
