Apologies in advance for another geek thread, but wow.  What an interesting time for computing.  These new M1 chips are so sweet and this is just for the base level consumer units.  5 nanometer process.  Science fiction stuff.  SOC fully realized.  Thanks mobile devices!  Onboard integrated memory, integrated graphics at a much higher level, 16 core neural engine on board.  Pretty crazy what they have achieved right out.  You have to wonder what they have coming for their big boy chips.  Really remarkable.

Truly impressive! Intel is so f...d!

Extraordinary. I almost hit the buy button, but they'd be delivering mine to La Quinta while we're in Solana Beach.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I'm waiting a bit longer. The internal architecture of all these machines has carried over from their Intel based predecessors which reads to me half baked.

Pretty crazy on the Air that with all of these enhancements that they have been able to remove the fan and still get great benchmarks and reviews.

My son says none of the gaming companies for games like FN and such are creating Mac versions. Our up and coming techie / gamers say so what to M1 :)
I be buying my wife one soon.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Windows dual boot has to happen.  I still need it.  I imagine it will at some point.  https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/20/craig-federighi-on-windows-for-m1-macs/

yup. 699 for a supercomputer with machine learning and AI built in. The future is here, it's just unevenly distributed.

Gamers just want a chair with a portapotty built in and a big box with flashy lights.

They are awesome but wait for the second one. I made my living working on a
Macs for over a decade. Just bought a new i7 the day after these came out. When I need a new mini they will be dialed. Y'all can beta test.  :D

But they are great machines and I assume they learned from the PPC days. Ha!

You're right Pono. Add to that getting food delivered right to his gaming desk..
This is what my son got for his 18th birthday. It cost $699. ironically.

Everywhere. Google Apple Mac Mini Desktop Computer, M1 Chip with 8-Core CPU and 8-Core GPU, 8GB Memory, 256GB SSD, Gigabit Ethernet--699.

Of course, that isn't what I'd buy, and I think the next Mac Mini release will have a lot more stuff for a few hundred more. I'd want a 1TB SDD, 32GB memory, and at least 4 high speed ports of whatever flavor they decide on, so yeah, probably 1600, but I'd paid five figures with more valuable money for a lot less.
