Hurricane Epsilon Swell- Day Three
« on: October 24, 2020, 10:19:26 PM »
Been quite a run of swell. For as crap as 2020 has been with everything not waves, Sept and Oct were sure good for waves here! I have like 200 GB of raw SS footage!

This is a quick edit of the 3rd day action north of the groin. Went quite well for my first time on the 8'0" Assassin quad all year. Especially with around 40 out! Three boards in three days. First day I rode my 9'11" and the second day my 9'3".  LIG

Nice Marc!

No doubt about the last two months!  Epsilon provided 3 days of hurricane swell with very little wind/no wind. We don't get that combo much. 70 degree temps in late October to boot.

Fall surf in NJ is delivering! Maybe we can squeeze  another swell out (there is another storm brewing in the tropics) but I am sensing its almost time to put the spring suit away and that gloves and boots are around the corner!

Keep delivering the stoke Marc we all enjoy it!

Yewwwww Marc!
Glad to see your progression into recovery  :)

It has been a great run for a long time!
My SoloShot is on strike since the big swell of Paulette.... very frustrating.
I didn't even set it up yesterday... I am worn out by the disappointment.  :-\

Good for you Marc! You almost took that guys head off at just under 3min. good you stayed in control.  I’m surprised there aren’t less crowded spots down there that you could venture to.  Yesterday I surfed a left off a jetty by myself in northern jersey, there were about 10 guys surfing on the north side of the same jetty but I think cause the current was moving south to north the proners that ventured by me got swept north while I stayed put.

Thanks for sharing the video!

@ Cookie

Since you took three different boards on on three different sessions, which board did you like best if you had to do a comparison?
Blue Planet Duke: 10'5" x 32" x 4.5" @ 190 Liters (2 Dukes)
Sup Sports Hammer: 8'11" x 31" x 4" @ 140 Liters
SUP Sports One World: 11'1" x 30" x 4.5" @ 173 Liters
CJ Nelson Parallax: 9'3" x 23 1/2" x 3 3/16" @ 78.8 Liters (prone surfing longboard; Thunderbolt Technologies build in Red construction)

I guess everyone knew about the surf..... Fun stuff Mark! Soloshot is working well. We've had some good swell these past few weeks with 70 deg + water temps. It's strange to have the wind blowing at dawn and I'm butt cold getting into my slightly damp spring suit, thinking I'm going to be cold out there. Then my feet hit 72 deg water, and I paddle out prone and just float in the water to stay warm 8) That's the way it's been. Great surf too. I surfed almost everyday last week.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Winds were sooo light for Epsi. We lucked. Thanx for the delivery request, osprey! Hey, check it out, I found an osprey in flight w/fish pic from 2017. Was shooting the surf when the raptor flew in w/lunch.

Thanx fore the Creek-stoke. Bummer about SOLO3. Support ticket I hope.

Each of my boards have their own qualities for different conditions, Winger. I guess that's why it's called a quiver. I sold both my low vol sups since my shoulder operation though. Went from five sups to three.

That guy was NOT in a good spot, LB! Just cleared him. There are plenty of empty breaks on LBI and the first two days of the swell I took advantage of that. Only me and my brother out those first two days at the random breaks. But they are WAY more challenging and unpredictable than the machine like perfection of the groin.

Unfortunately that spot is now pretty much totally blown up at this point. Especially after the Nor-Easter Riley swell back in March 2018.  I first surfed there WAY back in 1991. Was quite different then. Your warm water sounds nice! We're down to the lower 60s now and it's gonna take a steep dive soon!

That was a close one. I was so glad he didn't fall or get clipped by the lip. I said "Good job, Dingo"! Known the young fella for years. Quiet ripper.

Check it out. Persistence pays. My Epsilon video is now featured on the app.soloshot.com homepage. It's my 48th upload to the edit webpage and I bumped justineakin of Orange County, California. His video "Test Drive" was uploaded 18w ago and has received 9,009 views.
Two years ago my first upload "New Jersey Summer Stoke" was featured and it received 3,331 views.

lmao!! There're a couple of SOLOSHOT-ers in my area. They are definitely cool and unique cameras! In my Teddy video you can see someone else's SS setup to the north of mine.
